Meet Our Tutors
Hello, my name is Derek Aldous and I am from Upstate New York. My strength in tutoring are subjects in Economics, Accounting, Finance and Business. I am also proficient in reading comprehension, English, and Creative Writing.
I began my academic career pursuing my Associate degree in Business Administration from Fulton-Montgomery Community College and was inducted into Phi-Theta Kappa Honor Society for academic achievement. I then continued to the State University of New York at Albany where I received my Bachelor of Science degree with a Major in Economics and a Minor in Business Administration.
While attending college, I was a tutor in Financial Accounting where I led sessions discussing review material and addressing questions from various students. I created worksheets and practice quizzes to help students prepare for exams, and also developed weekly lesson plans consisting of analysis of accounting statements and preparation of accounting reports.
I was a member of Student Association, where our goals were to develop, critique, analyze and implement budgets for community events. We were also focused on determining new ways to make event planning and implementation more efficient. Student Association helped to establish strong organizational and planning skills.
Apart from my academic career, I have experience teaching and developing youth for success as a Direct Care Provider at Berkshire Farm Center and Services for At-Risk Youth located in Upstate New York. At Berkshire, we focused on establishing goals, taught daily and independent living skills, and worked with a culturally and economically diverse population.
I have a passion for educating and I believe it is our responsibility to reach out to future generations. It is important to let the youth of today know that knowledge is power and the future is in their hands.
